BUTEC ELECTRICS has invested over Eihm in a new climatic test complex.
It comprises five test cells, each capable of taking a 14-litre (855cuin) engine and a further cell which will accept engines up to 25 litres (1,525cuin).
In one cell, the temperature can be varied from -40° to 90°C (40° to 195°F).
The complex also includes a workshop facility for preparing the engines and for fitting test units to road vehicles.
Butec has developed electric and electronic control techniques for cyclic control of the test engines as well as continuous data logging of the results.
