Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FFLEETWOOD has always been one of the smaller lorry driver competition eliminating rounds (there were 55 entries in 1964). This year, owing to circumstances unforeseen when the date was fixed, numbers were at their lowest. But even with only 35 drivers participating the administration maintained its customary enthusiasm.

There is no attempt to find an outright winner here but,on the basis of the fewest penalties incurred, the outstanding performance was that of B. J. Woods (Express Dairy Co. Ltd.) from Appleby, Westmorland, with 85 points-130 better

than the next best in Class C.

Sunday's event suffered because it clashed with the Manchester round, and fell during various East Lancashire Wakes holidays. Having two rounds in the same county on the same day surely would be better avoided, and date fixing on a national scale should be considered.

Best of the six entrants in the team event proved to be Lancashire County Civil Defence, with 654 points: the three team members all drove Morris CD vans in Class A. Second team place was filled by the trio from Eric Bemrose Ltd.
