THE 21st anniversary of London Transport was celebrated last week.
During its existence the system has carried nearly 80,000m. passengers on journeys totalling over 200,000m. miles, The vehicles have run 11,500m. miles, equal to about 460,000 journeys around the earth.
In 1933 London Transport had 11,800 vehicles, but now have nearly 14,000. With six main underground lines and 579 trolleybus and coach routes, the annual mileage run is 634m. Individual. passenger journeys are tending to become longer and rush-hour traffic more intense because peak hours are shorter,
