Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I find it somewhat strange and amusing that the VI has to recruit its inspectors from former Eastern Bloc countries CM 21-27 Nov). Are they trying to suggest that prospective staff from this country are not qualified enough?

I have on more than one occasion responded to advertisements for inspectors and have not even made it through the first selection to the interview stage, which brings into question the entry qualification for inspectors.

At the last time of applying, my qualifications were: timeserved with multi-fleet operators; holding B/TEC National Certificate in Automotive Engineering; City & Guilds Part II in Auto Electrics & Electronics; The Institute of the Motor Industry Certificate of Management; and I was also in the process of applying for membership of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (I subsequently gained Associate Membership).

So, does that mean that I am over-qualified or underqualified? in either case, the VI is now reaping the rewards of being too selective.

On a similar note, what is the qualification standard going to be for the East German recruits? The skills shortage is obviously now beginning to take a tight grip not only of the maintenance of HGVs at shopfloor level, but also at a much higher level. All this can only be blamed on numerous governments' attempts to reduce unemployment rates by offering under-funded, underpaid, highprofile 'training' schemes, instead of the traditional and well-established apprenticeship schemes.
