• Road Haulage Association chairman Bobby Heaton has been awarded an OBE in the New Year's honours' list; John Harvey, chairman and chief executive of Tibbett & Britten, is made a CBE.

Terry Coupland, a tanker driver with Fina at its Lindsey terminal, wins a BEM: he was nominated by the company for his services as a shop steward for the TGWU and helping to introduce a new salary scheme for drivers.
