/ British hauliers trying to get into Czechoslovakia faced a New Year shock when they were refused entry.

The Interior Ministry had failed to tell border guards that permits are no longer needed, under a bilateral agreement with the UK which came into effect on 1 January.

With officials away on holiday drivers were delayed for up to two days and missed their delivery and loading slots, says Mike Pickering, founder of ownerdrivers group Unit 91.
