rivers in Northumbria could be forgiven for thinking they'd celebrated a tad too much over the festive season when they came across cardboard cut-out police cars stationed on motorway bridges.
The cut-outs, costing £375 each, provided quite a saving on the £28,000 Vauxhall Senators they replaced. The police reckon speeding vehicles should be deterred by the authentic 'jam sandwich' appearance. If not, real cops with speed meters wait further down the road to pounce.
