Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Sunday Times did an effective job for the anti-lorry lobby when as part of a bitter campaign against road transport it applied the word "juggernaut" in a pejorative sense to heavy goods vehicles. This barbed usage has now been adopted by the compilers of Longman New Generation Dictionary, which the Sunday Express Magazine classified as for young readers.

A juggernaut, says the dictionary, is "a great force that destroys everything it meets; a large long-distance lorry that may be a danger to other vehicles."

Children who believe this definition will be grossly misled. They will not know that the heavy lorry has an outstandingly low accident record and the vehicles that supply their daily needs will in their minds be falsely branded as public enemies.
