ANo doubt you are refering to the requirements for livestock carrying vehicles contained in the Transit of Animals (Road and Rail) Order 1975. The provisions of this Order come into force on .August 1, this year, for new vehicles and on August 1, .1980, for existing vehicles.

The Order outlines construction and use regulations • for livestock carrying ,vehicles; calls for fitting 'fastenings along the body [ength to which partitions may be secured (though vehicles used exclusively for carrying horses may be exempt from this requirement); the provision of barriers between animals; bat' tens to be provided on floors; dimensions and fittings on loading ramps; and so on.

The Order provides for the segregation of animals and the cleaning of vehicles be tween journeys as well as minimum space which must be allotted to each animal.

Provision is also made for • the transport of sick or injured animals and the prohibition of movement when this is considered necessary.
