Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An application by Ribble Motor Services Ltd. for a new express service from Chorley to the NCB colliery in Leigh was granted in part in Manchester on Wednesday. The picking-up points on the colliery side of Standish were removed by the North Western Commissioners, who heard the case. There were three objectors, one of which was the Northern division of SELNEC PTE.

Mr. G. Dawes, licensing officer for Ribble, said that the company had operated a contract service from Chorley to the colliery since 1962.

Mr. G. F. Banninster, for the objectors, said that a perfectly adequate service was already being operated by the three objectors. If the application was granted, it would result in wasteful competition, especially between Standish and Leigh.
