• Forty-one local authorities in Northumberland, Durham and the North Riding of Yorkshire have accused the Northern Traffic Commissioners of "hustling through" applications by bus companies for fare increases, and have passed a vote of "no confidence" in them.
Mr F. Egner, town clerk of Tynemouth, acting on behalf of the councils, has sent a letter to the Minister of Transport, protesting against fare increases recently granted by the Commissioners to the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., United Automobile Services Ltd., and others.
