Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following its policy of converting from rigid to articulated operation the SCWS Ltd this week placed an order for 34 semi-trailers from Northern Trailers Ltd. A special feature of the order is that 22 of the semi-trailers are 22ft long and a spokesman for the Society said that they posed special problems.

Loading facilities at the Co-op's grocery warehouses were constructed for horsedrawn traffic or s.w.b. rigid vehicles. Consequently semi-trailers have to be loaded at the front ends and on a 22ft outfit this is some 3ft in front of the landing gear. This has resulted in the semi-trailers tipping over when partly loaded.

In consultation with Northern Trailers, a special landing gear with swing-out stabilizing legs was designed and this will be fitted to the short semi-trailers. The problem will be overcome when the society moves to a specially redesigned grocery warehouse in Shieldhall, Glasgow, later this year.
