• About 3,000 engineering, maintenance and repair workers of British Road Services Ltd., are to get a £.1 a week pay rise—an increase of 6d an hour on basic rates.
This brings the adult rates for a 40-hour week in London to £17 7s 10d (skilled), £15 13s Id and £15 3s 10d (semi-skilled) and £14 6s 4d (unskilled). In the provinces, the new rates are £17 Is 6d (skiUled),E15 6s 9d and £14 17s 6d (semi-skilled) and £14 (unskilled). There will be proportionate increases for young workers.
Present average earnings, including overtime, go up to about £25 a week.
