WINCANTON OIL tanker drivers working on the ConocoPhillips contract were due to commence a third week of strike action today (9 February). An agreement between the warring parties seems even further away, with Wincanton accusing Unite of “moving goal posts” in its negotiations over terms, conditions and pay.
A Wincanton spokeswoman says: “This irresponsible action is based on unreasonable demands.” Unite national oficer Matt Draper says: “Wincanton’s failure to offer security over pay and conditions means that the supply of fuel is under threat again.”
l Argos has terminated its contract with Wincanton and wants to take the Corby DC operation in-house at its Magna Park, Lutterworth DC by the autumn. The 750 affected staff have the option to transfer to Magna Park under TUPE, or relocate to other Wincanton sites.
