ONE OF Northern Ireland’s best-known haulage firms is shutting with the loss of 50 jobs.
Noel Zwecker International Transport, based in Co Armagh, says the economic downturn and soaring operating costs contributed to the decision. The family-run company, which was set up in 1970, transported goods across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
A statement says: “Noel Zwecker International Transport has decided to cease trading after more than 40 years in business. “The recession and rising running costs have forced this decision. A reduction in trading and lack of parity in relation to fuel prices have also contributed – this is a blow to the local economy that, as a whole, is feeling the economic pressures of recent years.”
