John Legge, regional security manager (North) at DHL Supply Chain, believes freight crime is attractive because of the high-value loads. He says a load can cost up to £6m, and they are usually easily disposable and hard to trace. While freight crime is not perceived high on the police agenda, he says: “No one can write off £50,000.” Legge also stressed the importance of TruckPol in bridging the gap between the road transport industry and police forces.
