BRITISH Standards Institu. tion has published a revise( edition of BS 4552 Fuel Filters Strainers and Sedimentors fo Compression-ignition Engines Part 1, Methods of Test, firsi issued in 1970.

'Part 1 specifies testing pro cedure relating to certain per formance characteristics oi fuel filters, strainers and sedimentors for engines using diesel fuel (gas-oil) of classes Al or A2 (as specified in BS 2869) with flow rates in the range 5 litres/h to 500 litres/h. The requirements apply to filters having either integral or replacement elements.

Included in the standard are a number of supporting dia grams and appendices, one of which gives guidance on the application of tests to various types of filters.
