Now that CM's circulation has hit 40,000, it is developing its editorial staff by adding an engineering section. Graham Montgomerie, who joined us in 1973, has been appointed engineering editor. He will be visiting every European vehicle builder regularly and discussing research and development projects, quality control and planning with their top engineers. His reports "From the Drawing Board" will appear in CM on alternate weeks.

Graham will also be ready to answer readers' engineering queries, but since he will have heavy travel commitments, these queries should be made in writing.

Steve Gray has been appointed technical editor and Bill Brock moves up to assistant technical editor. They will be jointly responsible for the technical news features and road tests.

Operators wishing to participate in an extended test scheme should contact Steve Gray, who will supply details.

These changes at CM mean that our coverage of the industry has been extended into a very important area. It also means we are looking for a replacement for Bill Brock as a technical and operational writer.

National Carriers has promoted Bill Glenroy to managing director of its operations in Scotland.

This covers five main branches in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Previously Scottish regional director, Mr Glenroy joined National Carriers in 1974.

Peter Hill is the new chief engineer at National Travel (South-West). He takes up this new appointment after five
