DELAYED deliveries and serious teething troubles with its latest batch of Leyland Atlantean AN68 double-deckers has caused South Yorkshire PTE to buy ten B-series rural-type Leyland National single-deckers originally destined for NBC subsidiary Crosville.

Still finished in NBC green, the 10.3-metre single-deck Nationals with semi-automatic transmission and de-rated engines are to remain in service in Sheffield City only until double-deckers 'allow them to be transferred to less arduous duties.

Problems with the PTE's new Atlanteans include fuel pump and accelerator cable faults and continuing problems with G2 automatic transmission controls.
