EAST Kent Road Car w fined a total of 000 with costs when it was convicted 12 offences of operating will out a road service licence.
The company was prot cuted by the South Easte Traffic Commissioners a Ramsgate magistrates we told that on six separate dal in July last year, the compa operated unlicensed vehic] from Broadstairs and Minsi to a bingo hall at Pleasurear Amusement Park, Ramsgate In mitigation, the compa said it was approached Pleasureama which wished change its operator and to St making no direct charge patrons.
The company was awa that a road service licen would be necessary al applied to the Traffic Col missioners and had eve reason to believe a licen would be granted.
But an objection was lodg by the existing operators a it was obvious there would delay.
Because Pleasureama w still not making a dire charge for the transport, t company believed it cou provide the service as priva hire until such time as licence was granted, when direct charge would be mado As soon as it was told tl was not the case, the servi was withdrawn.
For the prosecution, Das Geen said that the public p.E Pleasureama a fee which i eluded provision of transpc and a Road Service Licen was therefore required.
