UNLOP is pulling out of the bus and coach tyre business this ar in an effort to reduce excess capacity in the European tyre isiness.
Its motor cycle and bus and coach tyre factory at Speke on [erseyside closes in April or May this year, and the company Lys it has no plans to manufacture elsewhere.
A company spokesman told CM that existing contracts, most ' which are on a mileage basis, will be honoured wherever )ssible, certainly until the end of this year.
There is a growing feeling that rental by mileage is no longer le most economical manner in which bus and coach fleets kould obtain tyres. and Dunlop's move may prompt changes of )licy in some fleets.
