Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

express

• A pilot express bus service to operate in Bristol is planned by the Bristol Omnibus Co. Ltd., subject to the approval of the Western Traffic Commissioners. The aim of the scheme is to get passengers to their destination by bus in the same time as it would take by car, and without the parking worries.

If the application is approved, the pilot express service will start operating from Kingswood into the city centre and in the return direction in about a month's time. The new service, if successful, could be the forerunner of an express service network covering most of Bristol, stated Mr. Frederick Dark, the company's traffic manager, last week.

Mr. Dark added, however, that they would be restricted in their choice of routes. "You cannot run a fast service when you regularly get held up for half an hour on a busy road", he said.

Kingswood was chosen for the experiment because it is comparatively free from heavy congestion at peak times, when the service will operate. After three picking-up points, the bus is planned to run express into the city centre.

Fares have not been finally decided, but the suggestion is between 9d and ls.
