COMET CRANE CHASSIS: Lambert Engineering Co. (Glasgow), Ltd., have ordered 50 Leyland Comet short-wheelbase chassis for use as the basis of the company's Hydrocon Highlander 5-ton mobile crane. The chassis will be powered by Leyland 0.370 PowerPlus engines and are to have special frames. The crane, distributed in the U.K. by Brown and Tawse Plant, Ltd., Manchester. is designed with operation in confined spaces in mind.

BIG DUMPTRUCK CONTRACTS: Scottish Land Development Corporation, sole concessionnaires for A.E.C. Dumptrucks, has received a £300,000 order for 18 vehicles of the 18-cu.-yd. type from Richard Costain, Ltd., for use on a hydro-electric project in Argentina. S.L.D.C. have also ordered 200 Dumptruck 10-cu.-yd. models from A.E.C. for 1962 production.

A.E.C.s AND ALBIONS FOR B.R.S.: British Road Services have ordered 71 A.E.C. Mercury tractive units, 34 Albion Victor hulk-load pantechnicon chassis and six Albion Chieftains. All except four of the Albions will have Leyland-designed glassfibre cabs. The A.E.C. Mercury models arc to have 8-ft. 6-in.-wheelbase chassis, A.E.C. AV470 engines, 5-speed constant-mesh gearboxes and Park Royal glass-fibre cabs with one-piece curved windscreens.

PAKISTAN SCAMMELL ORDERS: The East Pakistan Water and Power. Development Authority, Dacca, has Ordered two Scammell Junior Construction 6 x 4 tractors with Leyland 0.680 160 b.h.p. engines and 50,000-lb. winches for use with Dyson 70,000-lb.-payload semi-trailers. Chittagong Port Trust, East Pakistan, has 'ordered two Scammell Scarab 3-ton dieseltengined tractors and four 3-ton 'Pat plaform semi-trailers with automatic coupling gear.

TANKERS FOR "PINTAS ": The Milk Marketing Board has placed an order for 10 A.E.C. Mammoth Major eight-wheelers fitted with 3,300-gallon stainless steel tanks, bringing the total of A.E.C. vehicles in the fleet to 30.

ASHOK LEYLAND ORDER: The Southern Railways of India have ordered two Leyland Comet haulage models from Ashok Leyland, Ltd., Madras, for use in connection with the construction of a new railway bridge across the River Krishna.
