HAULAGE firms may soon be compelled to transport perishable foodstuffs in insulated containers, the Deputy Scottish Licensing Authority, Mr. I. Townsend, was told at Aberdeen last. week.
Mr. Gordon G. Forbes, company manager of Buchan Meat Producers, Ltd., made this prediction when supporting an application by James Reid and Son, haulage contractors, of Peterhead, to make longer journeys and increase a lorry's weight by adding an insulated container.
Mr. Townsend deferred his decision. but said it would not be a "total refusal."
