Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AA N application by Thornbury Transport, Ltd., of Berkeley, Glos., dealt with by Mr. S. W. Nelson, the Western Licensing Authority, at Bristol last November when the company were granted five vehicles out of eight asked for, had a sequel at the same court on Monday when the number of vehicles granted was reduced to three.

When he granted the five vehicles in November, the Authority said that the decision would not be published until he had seen a letter which the applicants said they had received from Alexander Scott (Contractors), Ltd., of Glasgow, who held the contract, saying they were aware of the change being asked for.

Alexander Scott, however, wrote to the Authority denying they were aware of the application.

At Monday's rehearing, Mr. T. D. Corpe, for Thornbury Transport, said there was considerable doubt as to whether Alexander Scott, who were doing trunking work for an Ayrshire firm, were going to continue that work. Subsequent correspondence showed that Alexander Scott had no intention of giving up their right to the traffic from Scotland to Gloucestershire and that in no circumstances would the traffic he given to Thornbury Transport.

"It appears," added Mr, Corpe, "that Alexander Scott have got their teeth right into this and are going to have a good bite."
