Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SINCE the beginning of this year the B.M.C. 5.7-litre diesel engine, which was originally developed for B.M.C. 18-ton-gross tractive units, has been available in all types of B.M.C, 7-ton chassis, This engine, which carries a 13-in.-diameter clutch, can be used only in conjunction with the five-speed gearbox already offered in 7-ton chassis. The box adds £60 to the price of such chassis, and the 5.7-litre engine costs £10 more than the 5.1-litre unit.

Another change concerns the ratios of the five-speed gearbox. Originally the forward ratios were 7,41, 4.381, 2.396, 1.478 and I to I, with reverse gearing of 7.34 to I. As from the beginning of this month the box now has forward ratios of 6.923. 3.78, 2.24, 1.47 and 1 to I. Reverse is 6.857 to I.
