Sittings Arranged.

THE following are the times and places announced by Area Traffic Commissioners for their forthcoming public sittings. In each case the number of the latest Gazette of Notices mid Proceedings to be received is mentioned in brackets.

Northern.

THISweek at Stockton Barrow Corporation's stage-service applications and similar applications of small independent operators are being considered.

North Western.

SS regards to-day's public inquiry under Part V of the Road Traffic Act, on the application by St. Helens Corporation for consent to operate public-servic-e. vehicles on certain routes outside the borough boundary, we are now able to state that Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., have lodged objections. After disposing of this matter the Commissioners will proceed with the ordinary sitting.

Eastern.

NEXT Monday the Commissioners will open a sitting at Cambridge which is arranged to occupy four days. Services of all kinds will be dealt with, including the London-Aylesbury stage service of Premier Line, Ltd. (strongly opposed) ; the London-Clacton service of Messrs. Pring and Davies and a large number of excursions and tours.

Gazette 42 gives the forms of conditions which will be attached by the Eastern Commissioners to licences and backings for stage and express services, exfmrsi.ons and tours.

South Wales, STAGE-SERVICE applications of in

dependent ,oneerns, to which there is but little objection, are to he dealt with at Carmarthen next Tuesday, when also several backing applications by the Northern General Transport Co., Ltd. (one of the B.E.F. group of Companies), in respect of tours starting from towns in the Northern Area, are to be considered.

West Midland.

NEXT week's sitting at Hanley may occupy only Thursday or may be extended to Friday. First, applications to vary licence conditions will be heard, the Potteries Electric Traction Co., Ltd., and four other operators having all applied for increases in services.

Next, applications for road service licences will be dealt with,the names of the Potteries and "Midland Red" concerns appearing prominently. The application of E. J. Jones, Liverpool-London, Ltd., to continue its existing express service between Liverpool and London is being re-heard, and there are objections by Red and White Services, Ltd., the L.M.S. Railway and the Potteries and "Midland Red" undertakings.

At this sitting the Commissioners propose also to deal with representations from local authorities and others on the subject of stage services between Leek, Kingsley and Cheadle.

East Midland,

A PPLICATIONS by the Eastern 11..National Omnibus Co., Ltd., and London General Country Services, Ltd. (this being the new, title of the East Surrey Traction Co., Ltd.), will occupy the Commissioners on Tuesday next at Luton, and no objections are listed in Gazette 47, Independent operators will

be beard on the following day ; also Luton Corporation, which is appearing in connection with three local stage services, all of which are objected to by the Eastern National concern.

Northern Scotland.

NEXT week's Aberdeen sitting is arranged to occupy two days. Aberdeen Town Council's stage-service applications, as well as an application in respect of excursions, will be made, there being no opposition. Other applicants will include W. Alexander and 'Sons, Ltd., the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., and a number of independent operators. Western.

GLOUCESTER will be the venue of next week's sitting and the list of applications to be heard has, in Gazette 32, been divided conveniently into groups. First, the renewal of licences without modification is dealt with.

Next, is a list of licences to be renewed with modifications; several of the stage services of the Bristol company and the Western National concern are included. There is quite a list of new stage services for which application is made by the "Midland Red" concern.

Commencing on Thursday, express services are being considered, including two renewal applications without modi

fication and two applications for new services, one by Eingland's Hire Cars, Ltd. (Manchester-Ilfracombe) -and the other by S. Johnson, Ltd. (StourbridgeWeston-super-Mare).

Metropolitan.

day of next week Mr. Gleeson Robinson will take a large batch of applications for excursions and express services lodged by independent concerns, these affecting long and short-distance routes. On Thursday (February 18th), excursion applications of the L.G.O. Co., Ltd., as well as of the M.T. Co. (Mr. F. A. Flin's concern), will be heard.
