Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TN a large number of cases questions concern-Ling bodywork have to be decided before the order for the chassis can be put through. In this connection one of the most vital matters is that anent the permissible overhang, which Is solely dependent upon the 17/24 dimension, i.e., the length from the front of the chassis (exclusive a the starting handle) to the lateral centre line of the rear axle, or to a point 4 ins. behind the mid point of the wheelbase of the bogie in the case of rigid six-wheelers.

This matter is now of great importance to the prospective purchaser, therefore to the manufacturer, agent and salesmen concerned. In all future literature regarding chassis it should be considered imperative to quote the constituent dimensions of the overall length, that is to say, the 17/24—which is constant for any given wheelbase—the 7/24 connected there with and the resultant overall length, which is the sum of the figures in question. This information would be of genuine assistance and avoid much trouble in effecting sales. To-day it does not suffice merely to give the frame length behind the dash or cab.
