A LONDON operator, described as naive, was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £610 for using a vehicle without an 0-licence, using an 0-licence identity disc with intent to deceive, and using a vehicle with a faulty tyre.
Routine Systems, of Finchley, admitted the offences before the Harlow Magistrates and was fined a total of 060 with £250 prosecution costs.
Anthony Ostrin, prosecuting for the VOSA, said traffic examiner Peter Ironmonger had inspected a light CV where the tyre on the first axle was so badly worn that the cords were exposed and damaged.
A second vehicle, a two-axled rigid also operated by Routine Systems, entered the checkpoint. That vehicle required an 0-licence and was displaying an 0-licence identity disc in the name of a third party. When David Kyru was interviewed on behalf of the company, he admitted it did not have an 0-licence and that he had placed an identity disc belonging to another operator on the windscreen of the vehicle, saying that he thought that he was entitled to do so.
Fining the company, the magistrates said they considered the offences represented a very dangerous situation for all road users.
