B Registrations of trucks and artics over 3.5 tonnes hit 3,414 in November—up more than
26% on the November 1992 total of 2,698. Registrations for the year to date rose by nearly 17%, from 28,913 to 33,728.
Iveco Ford once again took pole position in the heavy trucks market last month, overtaking Mercedes-Benz which enjoyed one month's lead in October.
Total commercial vehicle registrations, including vans, rose just over 6% in November to 16,925.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders, which produces monthly registration figures, says November's truck and artic sales are the first monthly figures to reflect the upturn in the rest of the market.
The Budget has not altered the SMMT's optimistic prediction for truck sales in 1994.
The commercial vehicle section expects this year's total to reach 35,000, with a rise to 40,000 in 1994.
