Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A /Er Agornbar's iViimpassioned and worthy plea (CM 11-18 November) would carry more weight if he did not quote the nonsense figure of £1.50 per

mile needed to operate a 38tonne truck. There is no such figure.

The amount needed to cover the running of any truck depends totally on the number of miles to be covered in any particular period and the number of days it is likely to be at work in each year.
