COSTS have risen by over 18 per cent in the North West of England over the year ending December 31, according to a survey carried out by the Road Haulage Association's North Western (Eastern) area.
Assistant area secretary Robert Entwhistle told CM that the figures were taken from the area's costing committee of 25 members and canvassed from another 100 members in the area.
The survey shows that fuel costs have risen by 2.85 per cent; tyres and tubes by 0.74 per cent; maintenance by 2.5 per cent; wages and subsistence by 3.65 per cent; licences by 1.1 per cent; depreciation by 4.49 per cent; goods in transit insurance by 0.69 per cent; other costs by 0.12 per cent; management and clerical costs by 0.88 per cent, and establishment and other costs by 1.12 per cent.
And all that adds up to a final cost increase of 18.05 per cent for the year taken from January 1 and projected to December 31.
