Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IREE devices for analysing a driver's breath to determine blood/ alcohol levels are ing operationally tested by the police in selected areas of Britain over the next six miths. The tests began on December 1.

During the field trials the devices will be placed in specially selected police stations in .sy urban areas.

Forces taking part, and the designated stations are: Metropolitan (Fulham and immersmith); Sussex (Brighton); South Wales (Cardiff); West Midlands (Smeth.ck); Nottinghamshire (Nottingham); West Yorkshire Metropolitan (Leeds and addersfield); Strathclyde (Glasgow Govan and Clydebank), and Greater Manchester lanchester and Stockport).

The instruments — the Breathalyser 1,000, the Gas Chromatograph Intoximeter and the CMI Intoxilizer — have been assessed by Home Office scientists as warranting further trials in the field.

The evaluation programme was initiated following the Blennerhassett proposal, which recommended that a breath test should replace the blood test as the main means of determining blood alcohol concentration.
