I felt I had to answer the comments by John J. McKay, of London, and F. G.Larman, on Enfield, on bi drivers (CM, November 25).

Surely both must realise that one cannot make such sweeping statements because, as in all professions, there are gooc and bad.

My father, a driver for over 30 years, is now a bu: driver after being forced ta give up lorry driving following an accident. In h "lomg-distance days" he handled exceptional loads weight and length and to tl day has a clean licence.

I, myself, a 30-year-old with rather less experience am the holder of both hgv and psv licences. I have driven buses and coaches • I am an award-winner in tl local heats of the Coach Driving Competition — am also long-distance lorries, and I, too, have a clean licence.

Not all bus drivers are a menace on the road, thoug some are, but so are some lorry drivers.
