If the decision was taken under pressure from the Office Fair Trading then this was another victory for bureaucracy and we rye had quite enough of those.
If the intention is to open up competition then a new wave of rate tting can be expected. It will certainly deprive many small, and some not small, unsophisticated companies of valuable information on which to se their rates.
The RHA was merely "recommending"; it was providing a legitimate rvice to ensure that its members did not operate at unprofitable rates. If is is different from recommended retail pricing then the difference is ,scure.
If it is argued that those who cannot price their services should not hold icence then that is for the Licensing Authorities to decide.
The RHA may have to accept official itructions. No such instruction can be fen to CM and we will continue to blish and sell our Tables of Operating sts in the interest of sound operation.
