LONDON Country bus services, which inherited over 11,000 London Transport "bulls-eye" type bus stops when it split from LT in 1970, is endeavouring to sell old bus stops to transport enthusiasts and collectors.
London Country claim the stops are not being withdrawn as part of an expensive exercise in corporate identity, but follow a Department of the Environment directive that requires all operators to switch to a standard, easy-toread symbol sign by 1985.
London Transport is exempt from this rule, as its stops are instantly recognisable as part of the London scene.
