HOWN for the first time in Britain is the Honda diesel engine on stand 245B at Smithfield Show, Earls Court, which closes ay. The engine is a two-cylinder 479 c.c. win four-stroke unit with overhead valves. rmal output is 7 h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m., with a ximurn of 9 h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m. Bore and >ke are 66 mm. by 70 mm. and maximum que is 16 ft. lb. at 2,400 r.p.m. Compression o is 22 to 1.

41though this engine is exhibited in an icultural tractor, the road vehicle potential is there, especially in the light van class.

The 1Haflinger Mk. II illustrated here on stand 153 at this year's Smithfield Show replaces the earlier model (road tested by COMMERCIAL MOTOR in June 1961) and has an increased power

output. A five-speed all-synchromesh gearbox is standard, and a top speed of 50 m.p.h. is claimed. Capable of carrying six people and light equipment over terrain which would present difficulties to normal-wheeled transport, the Haflinger is a Steyr-Puch product.
