APACECO giant transporter crane will be in
operation by June 30 as part of the new facilities at Felixstowe dock under the current expansion plan. The first container berth will be ready by the same date and a second container berth and new roll-on berth by March 1968. One of the main users of the first container berth, at the southern end of the development, will be Sea-Land Services Inc.
Storage, marshalling and road/rail handling facilities will form part of the development.
The contractors. Kier Ltd., started work last month on their section of this £.2,1m. scheme, which will include a double-deck link-span to serve two decks of roll-on ships simultaneously.
