Colvilles, Ltd., at Motherwell, ha created a major flow of transport work I Lanarkshire, it was stated at the Glasgm court of the Scottish Licensing Authorit when Mr. Edward Murphy of Motherwel sought extra capacity for that work.

The original application was for a 1 variation, increasing by Iwo vehicles 84: tons for road and building material! on a 35-mile radius. This was amended ti read "Goods for Colvilles works a Ravenscraig, Motherwell, within 12 mile radius." The application meant doublim the B fleet but restricting the extr vehicles to Ravenscraig work.

Mr. W. F. Quin said that the hirim was not extensive and that the case wa very thin indeed. There was no evidenc( of any difficulty, no figures of hiring u any extent. He refused the application.

DAME IRENE PRESSES ON

APRIVATE Member's Bill to place on trolleybus drivers the same obligations in regard to the reporting of accidents as are laid on drivers of motor vehicles is to be introduced into the House of Commons next Wednesday.

Dame Irene Ward (Cons., Tynemouth) is to introduce it under the Ten Minute Rule. It follows confusion on the point that was revealed after an accident in which a woman died two days later.

GLASGOW SPEED LIMIT

A SPEED limit of 40 m.p.h. will be imposed on parts of Great Western Road and Barrhead Road within the Glasgow boundaries if Glasgow Corporation and the Secretary of State for Scotland approve a recommendation of the highways committee.
