MR. GEORGE BAIRD, who recently retired, as technical director of Girling. Ltd.. served his apprenticeship at Albion Motors, Glasgow, and became chief draughtsman at Beardsmore Motors. He later left to take up a position as chief designer for Morris-Commercial. He joined Girling in 1945 as chief engineer and in less than 12 months was appointed technical director. MR. H. E. RicHARDsoN has been appointed divisional sales manager, North Eastern Division, Shell-Mex and B.P.. Ltd., with headquarters in Leeds.

M. ROYSTON DENNIS, only son of Mr. John Dennis, one of the founders of Dennis Brothers, Limited, has resigned from the Board of the company owing to ill health.

MR. G. VERONESI has been appointed works manager of the Burton-on-Trent factory of Pirelli Limited in succession to MR. A. ZANCAN who has been appointed general manager of a new company being set up in Italy.

MR. EDGAR CHARLESWORTH, secretary of .Fodens, Ltd., Sandbach, has retired from the company after 58 years unbroken service. He is 74. Mr. Charlesworth started with the firm in 1902 as a 5s. a week office boy. "1 think it is time I retired." he said, " although I feel I could carry on. I am fitter now than I was 10 years ago." He is succeeded by MR. A. GEORGE.

MR, E. L. TAYLOR has been appointed a director of Western Welsh Omnibus Company, Limited, and has been elected chairman in succession to MR, JOHN SPENCER WILLS, who has resigned from the Board owing to the pressure of his other business commitments. MR. W. T. JAMES, managing director, and MR.

K. W. C. GRAND have also resigned from the Board. MR. W. M. DRAVERS and MR. J. R. HAMMOND, have been appointed to the Board.

MR. W. E. LAMBOURN, joint deputy managing director of the Pressed Steel Company, is to retire on December 31. He will he succeeded as deputy managing director by MR. F. E. CAIRNS. MR. R. N. DAVIES becomes group director of manufacturing, MR. S. C. E. LEWIS becomes group supplies director. MR.

L. LONG becomes deputy group director of manufacturing, MR. S. A. J. FRAMPTON takes over as works manager, and MR. A. H. PE1HER becomes group tool manager.
