Guy vehicles over 25 years old are advised to apply at once to the manufacturers for any spare parts they may require. After next month remaining stocks are to be disposed of, because of storage space requirements and the prehibitive cost of producing out-of-date Parts.
Mr. Sydney S. Guy, chairman and managing director of Guy Motors, Ltd., gives this warning in his annual report.
It is hoped to start production of Warrior 8-tonners and 40-seater chassis early next year.
In addition to that at Cape Town, a depot has been opened in Durban, and land for further depots has been purchased at Johannesburg and in Rhodesia.
During the past few years, many Guy buses have been sold for operation overseas after 10-12 years' service in Britain. "In view of the generally inferior road conditions overseas, we originally viewed the sale of these vehicles with considerable misgivings," says Mr. Guy. They have, however, proved to be "one of our best advertisements." Demand is limited only by the supply.
