ARECENT addition to the literature dealing with the oil engine is "Diesel Operation and Fault Diagnosis " (Odhams Press, Ltd., 21s.). As basic principles are equally applicable to all types of oil engine, the material dealing with marine and industrial units does not lessen the value of the hook to the student wishing to learn, about the road-vehicle version.
As is inevitable in works of this kind, the bulk of the matter deals with design features, but the chapters covering tuning and fault location should prove of value to those responsible for keeping the wheels turning. Details of specific makes of engine must necessarily be brief in a relatively small book and in view of the general nature of the work Mile would be lost had this particular chapter been omitted.
