Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

pENRITH magistrates last week heard a case against a driver charged sVith obtaining by false pretences 7611 gallons of petrol and 60 pints of oil, to the value of £159 5s. 6d., from various garages.

The prosecution alleged that the driver had worked for John McIntosh and Son, Ltd., Glasgow, who had a bunkering arrangement with the Regent Oil Co., Ltd. He left McIntosh and joined Allied Transport, Ltd,, who did not operate a blinkering system.

Then McIntosh missed a bunkering card, but continued to be charged for fuel issued against it. It was submitted that the defendant had obtained fuel on the card and drew money for it from Allied Transport, Ltd.

He was well known at one garage and the attendant did not bother to check the. number of the defendant's vehicle against that on the card.

David Gibson Dougall, Lawmoor Street, Glasgow, made a special plea for leniency and the bench adjourned sentence until January 3.

Following the hearing, the local police drew the attention of garage proprietors in the district to the need for checking cards when issuing fuel under, bunkering arrangements.
