THE number of vehicles registered for operation under C licences during October, 1949, was 7,948. Of this total, the number of new vehicles was 7,046, an increase of 1,216 on the September figure. A total of 902 vehicles was licensed for existing fleets and the number of new operators was 3,638. Of the newly registered vehicles, 1,698 were for retail delivery work and 1,928 to operate within a 25-mile radius. The October figures bring the grand total of C-licence vehicles to 667,703, of which 369,378 have capacities of 30 cwt. or less.
