VEHICLES built by the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd., Windmill Lane, Southall, -Middlesex, and by its allied condein, Hardy Motors, Ltd., 46, Charing Cross, Lendon, S.W.1, 'have penetrated to almost all parts of the world. They are known under the name Ado in South America and Germany. From time to time A.E.C. officials have made foreign tours with a view to ascertaining first-hand the re

quirements of overseas buyers. • Examples of the outcome of their labours in this direction were in evidence at a private exhibition recently held at the works at Southall, On the passenger-carrying side there was an Ado Ranger chassis for singledeck-bus or coach work. This has the 110 b.h.p. engine with a seven-bearing • crankshaft and a clutch haying a wearing surface of 380 sq. ins. Features of the model exhibited were its 19-ft. wheelbase and its 29-ft. overall length. Heavy colonial-type springs were used. Right or left-hand steering may be specified as required on this model. Turning now to the goods-carrying vehicles, there was to be seen an Ado

Mercury 31-tonner with 65. h.h.p. engine and a special track of 1,600 mm. for work on roads .largely used by bullock carts. A steering damper is used on this model and the engine is governed. In addition, the back axle is of a special heavy type and the springs are made for colonial work. On the model exhibited 7-in. tyres were used

on the front wheels, but the single rear tyres were of 12-in. section.

A larger model was the Aclo Majestic normal-control six-tonner with 110 b.h.p. petrol engine. The chassis was similar to the oil-engined model which we road-tested and reported upon in our issue dated November 25th.

rinally, there was the Ado-Hardy

four-tonner which formed the subject of our centre-pages article in our issue dated December 2ncl.• This vehicle has a remarkable cross-country performance and embodies a large number of standard A.E.-C. units.

One of the features attracting much attention at the exhibition was the _ARC. high-speed oil engine.
