Samworth plays it cool with Montracon Insuliners

Temperature-controlled specialist Samworth Brothers has taken delivery of 12 Montracon Insuliners to replace its refrigerated box trailers in delivering product from local bakeries to the group’s Leicestershire DC. The firm says the Insuliners, with Carrier Vector 1550 fridges, are proving more cost-effective on shorter delivery cycles. Fleet manager Graeme Hawker says: “It’s the first time we have used insulated curtainsiders and also the first time we have bought Montracon.”

Vibixa is unbeatabix thanks to new Volvo

Weetabix-owned packaging firm Vibixa has bought a two-axle Volvo FM11-450, plated at 34 tonnes GVW, to enable the business to operate in the London Low Emission Zone. Supplied by Truck and Bus Wales & West in Avonmouth, the Volvo will be used to haul palletised loads of printed cartons. Warehouse and transport manager Gary Bridges asked all manufacturers to submit a quote, but says Volvo’s response represented the best value for money. “Our expectations of the truck are already being exceeded on a daily basis.”

Churchesfire replaces fleet with Mercedes Vitos

Fire safety specialist Churchesワre has picked Mercedes-Benz Vitos for its replacement van fleet, with 24-hour aftersales service being a key factor in its purchasing decision. The Chandlers Fordbased firm has ordered 10 longwheelbase Vito 113CDIs, supplied by South Coast dealer Pentagon Commercials. Purchasing manager Paul Burville says: “The Vito is a quality vehicle with a high standard specification.”

Hyva helps MTS Cleansing take a bite of sewage cake

Environmental contractor MTS Cleansing has taken delivery of 16 Daf 8x4 rigids fitted with top-specification Hyva hookloaders for work on a new contract with Southern Water. Mounted on 360hp Daf CF chassis, and supplied through dealer Channel Commercials of Ashford, MTS’s hookloader specification also includes the hydraulically controlled Hyva AutoSheet and PM Onboard’s advanced TruckWeigh axle-overload protection system. The new trucks will be primarily used for the movement of sewage cakes between sites in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. MTS contracts director Steve Gilson says the trucks are already delivering “significant operating improvements and cost efficiencies”.
