DRIVERS CAN learn how to avoid a hijack and how to stay safe during an attack through a new free-of-charge online training site, Train for Life.
Developed by security irm Richmond, Day & Wilson, the irst course looks at which vehicles criminals are more likely to attack; observation skills; methods that hijackers may use to take control and stop a vehicle; how to remain calm and co-operate with criminals; and how to retain details that may assist in any ensuing investigations. A second course, theft by deception, examines the most common tactics used by criminals, such as the commonly used ‘round the corner game’, which occurs when a delivery driver is duped to another location other than the delivery location.
