based Pi Weir Si. Co was warned about its mainte nance standards when it appeared at disciplinary proceedings before Scottish LA Keith Waterworth.
The firm holds a licence for 20 vehicles and 10 trailers. Since 1985 there had been four immediate prohibitions, one delayed prohibition, and two immediate variation notices imposed on its vehicles. A vehicle prohibited in June 1988 had a defective tyre and a number of loose wheelnuts. The same vehicle was again prohibited in April this year for a defective tyre. However, a fleet check in May proved satisfactory, but there were no maintenance records available prior to January.
Proprietor David Weir said the firm had joined the Freight Transport Association and intended to enter a contract for quality control inspections.
