• Hereford-based haulier Rotherwas Transport, which runs contracts for Metalbox and the British Steel Corporation, has gone into receivership. The jobs of the 25-plus staff are in the balance while a buyer is sought for the Rotherwas fleet and business.
The company, run by Trevor Oakley, operates a fleet of 30 tractive units and 55 trailers out of Metalbox's Neath base.
Neil Sulis, transport manager for the Metalbox contract, says Rotherwas has run Metalbox's distribution from Neath for a couple of years, and that transport arrangements for the factory, which manufacturers can ends, are "under discussion".
Rotherwas was one of about 150 hauliers who work for BSC in Port Talbot.
