Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• FedEx has moved to quash rumours that jobs will go as part of a re-organisation which has led to the creation of 12 regional managing directors (CM 5-11 July).

The company says it will keep to its stated policy of maximum employment during the round of changes. "Some roles may change," says the company, "but every effort will be made to offer suitable alternative positions to secure continuity of employment."

The company has also denied information given to Commercial Motor at this week's International Transport Workers' Federation conference in Florence, which alleged that FedEx was pulling out of the documents market and dropping artics.

FedEx responded by saying that, if anything, it wants to expand in both the document and ad hoc markets, and it has no intention of changing its transport arrangements. Drivers' pay negotiations are currently in progress at FedEx.
